Backgammon resurges online
March 11, 2005
"All in, full house, straight flush…our world
is inundated by the game of poker. It's on our TVs, in our homes,
and on our computers. But poker isn't the only game in town. The
newest way to fatten your wallet is actually a game that's been
around for 5000 years: backgammon."
So says a well written blurb from Play65.com, which has unveiled
what it claims is the world's largest online backgammon community,
allowing players from all over the world to compete for each other's
riches. With daily tournaments and a variety of game structures,
beginners and experts alike can play against one another for fun
and hopefully profit.
And backgammon has been ruled a skill-based game and is therefore
probably legal under US laws. The ancient game has retained its
popularity for centuries, and is currently experiencing a resurgence
among young gamblers, especially those attracted to its online possibilities.
