iGGBA expels Gambling Federation
March 23, 2005
Another chapter of the Gambling Federation malware affair closed
this week when the iGGBA issued the following press release announcing
the expulsion of the company from its membership ranks.
"Following an official inquiry into the allegations of
the use of malware in the Gambling Federation's software, iGGBA
has determined that the company is in violation of the iGGBA Code
of Conduct and has thereby terminated Gambling Federation's membership
of the Association with immediate effect.
"The inquiry determined that the Gambling Federation
had indeed intentionally embedded malware in their customers' software
to prevent them from using certain competitor's web sites.
"While it is regrettable that one of the Gambling Federation's
ex-employees did seek to illegally access and use the Company's
customer database, the response of the company was incorrect and
adversely affected customers who are the lifeblood of the remote
gambling industry.
"It is vitally important that the industry takes action
in ensuring that operators and suppliers are providing fair and
fraud free services to customers and the actions of the Gambling
Federation were inconsistent with this approach.", stated
Richard Flint, Chairman of iGGBA.
